The complex web of life on planet Earth tells many stories about the emergence and later disappearance of various animal species. Some animals appear to have been ill-suited for survival. They were oddities of evolution without much prospect, and their ultimate disappearance was not that surprising. Others seem to have disappeared for no particular reason.
